What Do You Really Want? The Question That Begins Every Transformation
Many people know exactly what they don't want. But very few know what they truly want. Every transformation, every breakthrough, every meaningful change begins with a single question: What do you want?

Imagine for a moment that a fairy appeared in front of you. She smiles and says: Everything is possible. There are no limitations. No lack of money. No lack of time. No lack of opportunities. What do you want? What would you answer? Would the answer come immediately? Or would you sit there in silence?
After years of coaching and working with people on their personal growth journeys, I have discovered something fascinating: Many people know exactly what they don't want. But very few know what they truly want.
And yet every transformation, every breakthrough, every meaningful change begins with a simple question: What do you want? Not what your parents wanted for you. Not what society expects from you. Not what seems realistic. Not what you think you should want. But what you genuinely desire. Because if you don't know where you're going, no road can take you there.
How We Forget to Dream
As children, dreaming came naturally. We imagined endless possibilities. We wanted to explore, create, build, travel, learn, love, and experience life. Children don't need permission to dream. They simply do.
Then something happens. We grow up. Responsibilities arrive. Bills appear. Expectations increase. We learn to be practical. To be reasonable. To be realistic. Slowly, almost without noticing, we stop asking ourselves what we want. Instead, we begin asking: What do I have to do? What should I do? What is expected of me?
And little by little, life becomes a checklist. Wake up. Work. Pay bills. Solve problems. Repeat. Many people spend years in this cycle. Not because they lack intelligence or ambition. But because they have become disconnected from their desires.
Why Desire Matters More Than You Think
Many people have been taught that desire is selfish. That wanting more is greedy. That dreaming big is unrealistic. But desire is not the enemy. Desire is information. Desire is direction. Desire is often your soul pointing toward expansion.
Think about it. Every invention, every business, every work of art, every relationship, every book, every meaningful achievement began as a desire. A possibility. A vision. A dream. Without desire, there is no creation. Without desire, there is only maintenance. And while maintenance keeps life functioning, it rarely makes us feel alive.
“Without desire, there is no creation. Without desire, there is only maintenance.”
The Exercise That Changes Everything
One of the first exercises I often give my coaching clients is surprisingly simple. Write down 100 wishes. Not ten. Not twenty. One hundred. And this is where something fascinating happens.
Many people struggle to write even twenty. They stare at the page. They feel blocked. They don't know what to write. Not because they don't have dreams. But because they haven't listened to them for years. The first twenty wishes usually come from the surface mind. The next twenty require deeper reflection. And somewhere around wish number fifty, something begins to shift. People stop writing what they think they should want. And start writing what they actually want. The deeper desires emerge. The forgotten dreams. The hidden passions. The life that has been waiting quietly beneath the noise.

The Real Source of Energy
Have you ever noticed how energized you feel when you're excited about something? You may sleep less. Work harder. Face challenges. And yet somehow feel more alive. Why? Because purpose creates energy. Vision creates energy. Meaning creates energy.
Many people think they need more motivation. But often what they really need is a dream that excites them. The human mind is not designed merely to survive. It is designed to move toward something meaningful. When we lose connection with that vision, we often lose connection with our vitality as well.
“The human mind is not designed merely to survive. It is designed to move toward something meaningful.”
What Do You Want... and Why?
Once you identify what you want, a second question becomes even more important: Why do you want it? Or perhaps even better: What will it allow you to experience?
Most goals are not really about the goal itself. People don't want money. They want freedom. Security. Choice. Experiences. Peace. People don't want a relationship. They want connection. Love. Partnership. Belonging. People don't want success. They want expression. Impact. Growth. Contribution. When you understand the deeper reason behind your desires, your motivation becomes stronger and more sustainable.
The Hidden Obstacle: Your Subconscious Mind
At this point, many people think: If I know what I want, why don't I already have it? The answer often lies in the subconscious mind. Your conscious mind sets goals. But your subconscious mind runs the program.
You may consciously want abundance. Yet subconsciously believe: Money is difficult. Success is dangerous. Rich people are selfish. I'm not good enough. I don't deserve more. And when your conscious desires and subconscious beliefs are moving in opposite directions, life feels like driving with one foot on the accelerator and the other on the brake. This is why transformation requires more than positive thinking. It requires uncovering and rewriting the beliefs that have been shaping your reality for years.
“This is why transformation requires more than positive thinking. It requires uncovering and rewriting the beliefs that have been shaping your reality for years.”
The Courage to Commit
Once you know what you want and understand why you want it, something else becomes necessary. Commitment. Not interest. Commitment. Interest says: I'll do it if it's easy. Commitment says: I'll do it because it matters.
Many people wait for certainty before they commit. But life often works the other way around. The commitment comes first. Then the path appears. The opportunities appear. The people appear. The resources appear. Not because the universe magically rewards us. But because committed people begin to notice possibilities they previously ignored. They take action. They stay focused. They keep moving. And over time, momentum builds.
Your Dreams Are Bigger Than You
One of the most beautiful realizations people have during coaching is that their dreams are rarely just about themselves. When you heal, others benefit. When you become financially abundant, others benefit. When you become happier, more confident, more fulfilled, others benefit. Your children benefit. Your partner benefits. Your clients benefit. Your community benefits.
The life you create sends a message to everyone around you about what is possible. This is why your growth matters. Not only for you. But for everyone whose life you touch.
The Life Waiting on the Other Side
Imagine yourself ten years from now. Imagine that you listened to your dreams. Imagine that you stopped settling. Imagine that you challenged your limiting beliefs. Imagine that you committed fully. Imagine that you trusted the process. What would your life look like? How would you feel? Who would you have become?
Now imagine the opposite. Imagine spending the next ten years ignoring your desires. Postponing your dreams. Staying in your comfort zone. Remaining exactly where you are. Which future feels more alive?
The Question That Changes Everything
Every coaching journey begins with the same question. Every transformation begins with the same question. Every new chapter begins with the same question. Not: How? Not: When? Not: Is it possible? First comes: What do you want?
Because when you reconnect with your desires, you reconnect with your energy. When you reconnect with your energy, you reconnect with your purpose. And when you reconnect with your purpose, life stops feeling like something that happens to you. It becomes something you consciously create.
So before you close this page, take a piece of paper. Write down your wishes. Write down your dreams. Write down everything you want. No filters. No limitations. No judgments. And then ask yourself: If I were brave enough to want it, what would I choose? Because that answer may contain the blueprint for the next chapter of your life.
